Profile
This June marks five years that Movement From Within has been in operation! I still remember the day that I opened the original studio at the Richmond Heights Plaza in June 2003 and waited for students to come. At first there were a few students who I taught at the Richmond Hill Academy of Martial Arts when I held yoga classes there. Gradually, through advertising and word of mouth, classes grew in size and in number. I offered one children’s class, and began with 2 children. Then in 2005, I moved homes and was able to accommodate classes in my home. My home studio was created with much love and has been where I have mainly taught since. In my home space, adult classes grew and children classes grew tremendously. I still have kept classes small and intimate so that I can give close attention to everyone. This past year I taught 6 kid’s classes with a total of 26 children, with more on waiting lists. Next year, my intention is to expand the number of class opportunities for children and youth. To do this, I have made a very difficult but clear decision to let go of regular adult classes, so I have the time and energy to expand. I feel sad to say goodbye to my adult students, some of whom were with me on this yoga journey since I opened in 2003. And, I also hope that we will stay in touch as each student finds their new yoga class. There are so many more opportunities for yoga in Richmond Hill now, with many good teachers.I have seen the wonderful effects that yoga has had on my students and as a way of connecting to our bodies, our spirits, and each other. ![]() I continue to teach with joy and enthusiasm. I have taken yoga courses toward my 500 hour Kripalu Yoga Teacher certification, as well as a variety of other yoga classes and workshops. I have also continued my journey of learning as a certified Rubenfeld Synergist. This work allows me to be present for the various emotional reactions that occur as a result of students becoming present with themselves. I am grateful to have this training and background to encourage, especially with children, aspects of active listening and unconditional support. I also continue to offer one on one sessions of Rubenfeld Synergy at my home office. Time is one factor that I wish I could slow down or expand... Being present with each moment and each event may be the very best we all can do. For me, doing yoga, teaching yoga, and learning from my students is a wonderful gift for which I am grateful at all times. I thank all of you for your support, your growth and your feedback. There are many lessons that I have learned in my life, and the teacher part of me wants to share them all, however, more important than anything that I can teach you is the connection that we share with each other. Peace, Heather I look forward to hearing from you: 905-770-5611 or heather@movementfromwithin.com |
